Sault Area Garden Club Minutes
May 19, 2008

After a tour of Kathy Rye’s and Jean Shourd’s gardens on Riverside Drive, we met in the church undercroft for a short business meeting, beginning a little before 8:00 p.m. and called to order by president Nancy Fenlon.

The April 21 minutes were read and approved.

A thank you from the Episcopal Church Women to our garden club for the spring tea participation again this year was read by Phyllis Bigelow. Jean Austin wrote the very nice letter on behalf of the ECW.

The treasurer’s report included a balance of $1496.07. This includes petty cash of $23.42 and checking of $ 1472.65.

We approved the idea of paying the driver $15 to take 3 or more passengers on regularly scheduled Monday Garden Club meeting nights in order to visit gardens, etc.

We discussed the need to update our member e-mail addresses and this is being done.

In discussions of programs for the remainder of the club year, it was decided that June will feature the Riggles’ rose garden in Kincheloe. Meet in the church parking lot by 6:00 p.m. to car pool.

July will be a crafts night. Please bring a project to work on and any supplies you would like to share are welcome. It is expected you won’t have time to finish, but can do that at home.

May 28 at 10:00 a.m. is Lock gardens clean-up time. Bring your own tools and help us out.

On June 3, we meet in Dorothy Dansdill’s garage to make arrangements for the United Way Banquet. Bring containers for flowers-baskets with liners, etc. Dorothy took a list of members who agreed to help her that day.

Fran Preuss, Linda Beaumont, and AndreeWatson provided raffle prizes.

Phyllis Bigelow, Carol Askwith, Nancy Fenlon, and Dorothy Dansdill provided the refreshments.

Phyllis Bigelow, co-secretary
